If you are new to the site, my name is Ben Abruzzo and I have been a strength and endurance coach for 6 years.  I am a former Army Infantryman and federal agent.  These days I spend my free time trying to get stronger, run ultra marathons, ski, climb and fly my way across the mountains.  My credentials include CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting and Gymnastics, as well Gym Jones Fundamentals.  More than the certifications, I am voracious student of human performance and approach training each type of athlete based on their needs and goals.  There is no cookie cutter approach and the only methodology that I am wed to is the one that will work for you.  Although my formal education came initially from my time as a CrossFit coach, athletes in endurance and outdoor sports will find a good home here.

I was co owner and head coach of CrossFit Albuquerque for 5 years.  I have trained CrossFit Games level individual competitors and teams.  I have also spent a great deal of time coaching triathletes, competitive runners, ultra marathoners, obstacle course racers and elite adventure race athletes.  To round it out, I offer training and preparation for military and law enforcement selection programs.  There is no one size fits all method of training.  We will look at your goals, time available, current abilities and limitations.  The methods used will vary by athlete and chosen sport but my philosophy is fairly simple:  Either have enough strength to meet your endurance goals.  Or have enough endurance to meet your strength goals.  Those are the guiding principals that I believe will lead to injury reduction and greater performance in your given sport.  To meet that philosophy we will utilize traditional endurance training, strength training with an emphasis on barbell movements, accessory work to correct imbalances, plyometric and power development, and skill based events to improve the mechanics of your given sport.  Layered into that is a solid dose of mobility and recovery practices.

Most people come looking for online individualized programming but other options exist.  Costs vary according to the desired level of input and length of program.  Email me at babruzzojr@gmail.com to get the conversation started.
